Here’s a champion if ever I’ve seen one folks.  He looks the business and he most certainly is the business.  Joao took the title at the 2011 NPC in Miami this year and made his family and all of Portugal very proud indeed.  What does it take to get this good?  Years of dedication, exercise and a complex diet we suppose?  Not according to Joao:

I just love the sport so much, that’s how you do it!  It’s not about all the lifting and eating the right stuff etc; well that’s part of it of course, but if you really want to know what makes a champion it’s inside that counts.  Your will to succeed and your enjoyment of the sport.  It’s the same with anything I do; if i don’t enjoy it, I’m no good at it!

Well, that certainly is the modest answer Isn’t it?  We do think that there’s a little more to it than loving what you do however!  I don’t think I could have a body like that, and I love going to the gym!
